Facebook doubles advertising bug bounty...

Facebook has doubled the reward for developers who point out flaws in the social networking giant's advertising code.

The bounty was raised after the US-based firm completed a comprehensive security audit. Market analysts suggest the move is part of the social networking giant's strategy to expand its share of the online advertising pie and to counter its close rival Google. The company had found and fixed a number of security bugs through audit but said it would "like to encourage additional scrutiny from Whitehats to see what we might have missed." "...we hope to encourage researchers to become more familiar with the surface area of ads to better protect the businesses that use them," Facebook Security Engineer Collin Greene said in a blogpost.

The company had found bugs in areas like redeeming the same ads coupon multiple times without expiry and retrieving name of an unpublished Page via the Ads Create Flow by guessing its Page ID, it said.

India slips further in ease of business ranking...

India ranked 142 among 189 countries surveyed for the latest World Bank report released on wednesday.. a drop by two places from last year's ranking.. as Singapore topped the list....
The fall in ranking from last year's 140 is mainly because other nations performed much better, Bank Officicals said that India's ranking originally stood 134 last year..but was adjusted to 140 to account for fresh data....
In the 2014 report India had 52.78 points and this year it has 53.97 points.
The latest ranking however do not takes into account a slew of measures taken by The current government to make India a business friendly destination...
"We do not want to send the impression that the drop in ranking is connected in any way with the current political situation ", said Augusto Lopez-Claros,Director,Global indicators Group.

The first post office in India was established by British East India company in Bombay in 1764.
Postage stamps were first used in India in 1852 at district of scinde (also known as scinde dawk). On 1st October 1854, the first all India stamp was issued. Chhat Puja declared a public holiday................ :)

All the government offices in Delhi will remain shut on Wednesday as the lieutenant-governor, Mr Najeeb Jung, asked the city administration to declare a public holiday in the national capital on account of Chhat Puja.

“The lieutenant-governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi is pleased to declare Wednesday, the 29th October as a holiday in all government offices under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, on account of Chhat Puja,” a notification issued in this regard by the city administration read.

With this, all government offices would be closed on Wednesday, unlike last year when it was a restricted holiday.

A delegation of BJP leaders, led by Delhi party president Satish Upadhyay, had, on Monday, met chief secretary D.M. Spolia and demanded that a public holiday be declared on the occasion.

There has been a tug of war between the BJP and Congress over the issue of Chhat Puja public holiday for the last few years. Lakhs of Purvanchalis have been demanding that a holiday be declared on this day

Sania Mirza’s Biggest Doubles Triumph....!!!!

Sania Mirza added yet another feather to her much-decorated cap as she won the WTA Tour Finals with partner Cara Black – the biggest title in tennis outside of the four Grand Slams and the Olympics. Sania Mirza and Black may have just about survived in their first two matches. The Indo-Zimbawe pair saved one match point against Spears/ Kops-Jones and three matchpoints against Peschke/ Srebotnik, but they thrived in the final against defending champions Shuai Peng/ Su-Wei Hsieh. Sania Mirza/ Black dropped the first game of the match, but then reeled off 12 games in a row, to win 6-1, 6-0 in just one hour.

The win is worth $500,000 in prize money for the duo and 1,500 ranking points for each player and completes a brilliant three-month run for the Indian in which she also won the US Open mixed doubles title, th Asian Games mixed doubles gold and women’s doubles bronze besides the season-ending WTA Championships. Sania will partner Hsieh next year as Black is uncertain of her playing schedule for 2015. The Indian has firmly set her sights on the elusive Grand Slam women’s doubles title and the World No. 1 ranking.

Modi's Diwali greeting from Siachen: India's with jawans

The Prime Minister spent his Diwali morning on Thursday at the Siachen glacier, lauding India's armed forces and saying "125 crore Indians can celebrate Diwali today and go about their lives in comfort because the jawans guard the borders."

He also tweeted that he was wishing the entire country on the occasion "from the icy heights of the Siachen Glacier & with the brave Jawans & Officers."

This was the third time in less than a month that Modi was using a public holiday to connect with the people. On October 2, that is Gandhi Jayanti, he launched the Swachh Bharat campaign, and on Dussera, he delivered his first radio speech on the government-run All India Radio.

Indian soldiers control almost all the dominating heights, ranging from 16,000 to 22,000 feet, in the Siachen glacier-Saltoro Ridge region, where more soldiers are killed due to harsh weather and avalanches than enemy fire. Around 900 Indian soldiers have been killed in the region since 1984, though casualties have come down drastically in recent years with India building better infrastructure there. Pakistan has lost even more soldiers in the region.

Arriving in Srinagar in the afternoon, the PM announced Rs 570 crore for repair of houses damaged during the September floods in the state and Rs 175 crore for renovation of six major hospitals which had also suffered damage.

He said the financial help would be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the flood-hit. People of the state, he said, had demanded that the aid reach them directly, and he had assured them their demands would be considered.

Zuckerberg announces $1 mn Innovation Challenge in India....

The goal of the challenge is to encourage development of apps, websites and online services that provide real value to women, students, farmers and migrant workers

Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced the $1 million Internet.org Innovation Challenge during his address at the first Internet.org Summit, in New Delhi.

At the Summit, he spoke about good inventions and highlighted the power of connectivity. He also pointed out that technology has to be such that it benefits the whole society and it cannot be the privilege of just a handful.

Making his observations about India, Zuckerberg said that the country has embraced science, research and technology, but now is the time to embrace internet. Even though 243 million people are connected to the internet, and 100 million are already on Facebook, there are more than a billion people who don’t have any access to the internet. He said, quoting a research, “69 per cent of Indians who have never accessed internet don’t have enough reasons why they should use it and what benefit internet can provide them. The only way one can motivate this section is when you show them the value internet can provide, as mobile is already doing by connecting people.”

According to a recent report by McKinsey & Company, one of the main barriers to internet adoption is the lack of relevant, local and multilingual content and services online. This is what keeps the internet restricted to a limited section of the society. To fill the gap, Facebook is working in rural India to improve internet connectivity. He also stressed on the need for a ‘911’ for internet, through which users can avail the basic internet services, even without using any plan.

Revealing some important statistics, Zuckerberg said that 25 per cent fewer women are connected to the internet, compared to men; 80 per cent of content on the internet are just in 10 languages, while there are 22 official languages in India; 65 per cent of people use Facebook in a language other than English.

Keeping in mind these drawbacks, he announced the Internet.org Innovation Challenge in India, which is an effort to recognise those who are working to make the internet more relevant to four sections that are currently underserved in India- women, students, farmers and migrant workers. These communities face some of the largest structural barriers to going online, and the content they find once they are connected is often of little value to them.

Facebook stickers are coming to Timeline, Group and Event comments

ll the stickers you’ve been using via Facebook Messenger will soon be available for all post comments.
Facebook will be rolling out global sticker support for comments on people’s Timelines, Group posts and Event Posts. The stickers will be available from both mobile and desktop versions of the social network and the iOS and Android apps.

As messaging apps have risen in popularity, so has the use of stickers by those apps. Facebook already has stickers in its Messenger mobile apps and browser. Stickers in comments joins images and other embeddable content available for post replies.
Unfortunately, still no GIF support. But hey, STICKERS!

Samsung develops five time faster Wi-Fi technology.... :)

Samsung Electronics said it has developed a Wi-fi technology that can increase data transmission speeds by five times the maximum rate possible with existing consumer electronics devices.

The 60GHz Wi-fi technology will enable a 1GB movie to be transferred between devices in less than three seconds while allowing uncompressed high-definition videos to be streamed in real time, the Suwon, South Korea-based company said in an e-mailed statement on Sunday. The technology removes the gap between theoretical and actual speeds, and exhibits actual speeds more than 10 times faster than with existing Wi-fi technologies, it said.

"Samsung has successfully overcome the barriers to the commercialization" of the 60GHz Wi-fi technology, Kim Chang Yong, head of a Samsung R&D centre, said in the statement. "New and innovative changes await Samsung's next-generation devices, while new possibilities have been opened up for the future development of Wi-fi."

The announcement came as Samsung rolls out new products amid growing competition from Apple and Chinese companies. Samsung last week said its quarterly operating profit plunged 60% because of stagnating smartphone sales and has announced a $14.5-billion investment to build a plant in South Korea to meet demand for semiconductor chips.

Samsung said commercialization of the 60GHz Wi-fi technology is expected as early as next year. It plans to apply its new Wi-fi technology to awide range of products, including audio-visual and medical devices, and telecommunication equipment.

Girl child education key to women empowerment....:)

I Think... Female education is the need of the hour. Without educating the women of the country we can never hope for a developed nation. Women play a vital role in the all round progress of a country. If we want to make democracy successful, women must be educated.

It is said that if we educate a man, we educate a man only, but if we educate a woman, we educate the whole family. This highlights the importance of female education. It is a fact that women are the first teachers of their children. It is in their lap that the children receive the very first lessons. Hence, if mothers are well-educated, they can play an important role in shaping and moulding of their sons and daughters. Napoleon was once asked, what the great need of France was. He simply answers, "Nation's progress is impossible without trained and educated mothers. If the women of my country are not educated, about half of the people will be ignorant." Such was the opinion of Napoleon about educating the women-folk. Our opinion too must not differ from Napoleon. We must give up our conservative outlook and create an atmosphere in which not a single woman remains uneducated.

She must be given all the necessary education. Ignoring her, keeping her illiterate means we are creating an illiterate and ignorant generation. So it is perfectly true that educating a girl child means educating a family.Development cannot be accelerated unless girls are given right education in right direction.

So... Education of a girl is very much important... And it is the basic requirement of the nation RIGHT NOW....

India is officially called Republic of India. It is country in South Asia and it is seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people. India came independent in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi. There are in India many religions, which are 4 world popular religions – Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. During the time India became one modern country, but its history put in it many architectural and cultural buildings, which worth to see today. On the other side, the Indian culture is amazing and a little different from the West cultures. It is interesting to see a different cultures....

1) The Kerala Backwaters

The Kerala backwaters are made up of 900km of interconnected waterways, rivers, lakes and inlets. This network is fed by 38 rivers and is made up of 5 large lakes that are connected by various canals which are both natural as well as manmade. This chain of lagoons lying parallel with the Arabian sea is also called the Malabar coast and extends across almost half of Kerala's coastline. The Kerala backwater offers visitors a quiet, tranquil getaway with the cozy houseboats for tourists to stay in and enjoy the beauty of the backwaters and the small towns near the backwaters.

2) The Belum Caves

The Belum Caves are located in the Belum village in Kolimigundla Mandal of the Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. These caves are the second longest and largest caves in the Indian Subcontinent and were first discovered by a British surveyor, Robert Bruce Foote, in 1884. The caves are natural underground caves from by a constant flow of underground water and have long passages, spacious chambers, fresh water galleries and siphons. The Belum Caves are best known for the amazing formations of stalactites and stalagmites.

3) Konkan

With the Sahyadri mountain range on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west, Konkan is made up of the coastal districts of Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. Konkan is home to some of India's most beautiful and clean beaches such as the beaches of Tarkali, Alibaug, Dapoli and many more. Konkan also has a number of forts from the times of Shivaji Maharaj like Sindhudurg and Murud Janjira.

4) Lakshadweep

Lakshadweep, part of the Indian Subcontinent, is a group of islands in the Arabian Sea and also the smallest Union Territory of India. The name 'Lakshadweep' literally means 'hundred thousand islands' in Sanskrit. The whole of Lakshadweep is made up of a total 12 coral atolls, 5 banks, 3 coral reefs, and several inlets. Blessed with an unmatched natural beauty, the exotic coral reef island of the union territory is an interesting blend of scenic beauty coupled with modern infrastructural facilities that draw several tourists to this place from across the globe.

5) Andaman and Nicobar

The islands of Andaman and Nicobar a are a group of Indian Ocean archipelagic islands in the Bay of Bengal, between the Indian peninsula to the west and Burma to the north and east. With near-deserted beaches, incredible corals and marine life, an intriguing colonial past and the remnants of a Stone Age culture lure travellers to these mysterious islands.

6) Lake Dal

Most people are not aware of Assam's hidden jewel - Majuli Island. Majuli is the world's largest river island and it's located in the Bhramaputra.Its wide blue sky, Holy River floating across the banks, and beautiful landscape is the best example of God’s creation. The river, its tributaries, the wet lands and the chaporis (the local name for its islets) along with the island of Majuli make it the largest mid river delta system in the world.

8) Jaisalmer

Lying in the heart of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer is a town in the state of Rajasthan, named after its founder- Maharawal Jaisal Singh. Jaisalmer is sometimes called the "Golden City of India" because the yellow sand and the yellow sandstone used in every architecture of the city gives a yellowish-golden tinge to the city and its surrounding area, and is crowned by the Fort of Jaisalmer and its several ornate Jain temples.

9) The Darjeeling Tea Fields

India and tea or chai as Indians call it, go hand in hand, and its no wonder India is one of the largest tea growers in the world. Darjeeling, as well as being one of India's most popular hill stations, is surrounded by tea plantations that produce prized light coloured, floral smelling tea. 'Tea tourism' is the latest concept being popularised in India. The tourists are encouraged to stay in tea garden Bungalows with all amenities during which apart from enjoying serene atmosphere of tea garden they can also see the tea manufacturing process and the unique culture of tea garden.

10) Nandi Hills

Nandi Hills or Nandidurg(a) is an ancient hill fortress that is tucked away from the fuss and tensions of a busy everyday life. It is renowned for its stunning panoramic landscape and greenery. The Hills are a part of the Chikkaballapur Taluk of Kolar District in Karnataka. It is 1,478 meters above sea level and about 65 Kms from Bangalore. Surrounded by vineyards, lush greenery and coconut groves, punctuated by pools and lakes, perfect for losing yourself to nature.

Cyclone Hudhud tears into Visakhapatnam at 195kmph...

After ducking the devastating effects of the 2004 tsunami and the 1977 cyclone, the "City of Destiny" sadly had its date with disaster on Sunday when a very severe cyclonic storm Hudhud tore through the city, unleashing widespread destruction and bringing the otherwise bustling city of nearly 20 lakh people to a grinding halt.

The cyclone, that made landfall in the Port City around noon, sent hoardings and tin roofs flying like saucers, shattered windows leaving the streets littered with glass shreds, toppled over statues of leaders in many places as well as landmarks like the replica of the navy airplane on RK Beach. Scores of electricity and telephone poles were knocked down and thousands of trees uprooted as strong gales accompanied by heavy rainfall lashed the city right from Sunday morning to evening.

Essential services were disrupted and people remained indoors to escape nature's fury. While officials were unable to come out with a picture of the damages in the Port City, they said it would take weeks for Andhra Pradesh's largest city to get back on its feet after the unprecedented blow.

Ajay Jayaram clinches Dutch Open title to bag maiden Grand Prix....:)

Ajay Jayaram on Sunday notched up the biggest triumph of his career by clinching USD 50,000

Dutch Open Grand Prix badminton tournament in Almere, Netherlands.
The 27-year-old Bangalore-based player defeated Indonesia's Ihsan Maulana Mustofa 10-11 11-6 11-7 1-11 11-9

in the men's singles final which lasted 46 minutes to bag his maiden Grand Prix title at the Topsportcentruy Almere.

Jayaram started off on the wrong note, losing the first game. But he came back to win the next two before

Mustofa staged a strong fightback to claim the fourth game. However, it was Jayaram who had the last laugh as he went on to win the deciding game and clinch the title.

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg meets The Prime Minister Narendra Modi

India could be the first country in which Facebook deploys drones to provide broadband connectivity in remote and inaccessible areas, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg proposing a pilot project to bridge this digital divide during his meeting with communications and information technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad

He proposed that Facebook could contribute to India's Rs 21,000-crore NOFN project on last-mile connectivity. He spoke of alternate technology such as drones and satellite communications playing a critical part in this last-mile linkage.

“One of the things I am really excited about is that the PM has this whole Digital India initiative. We can’t create connectivity around the world just by ourselves, we are trying to work with operators, governments. I am mostly interested in hearing and learning about how we can help. Stressing on the importance of connectivity, Zuckerberg had said while India has about 243 million Internet users and have 100 million plus Facebook users, there are over a billion people in the country who do not have access to the net.

Ajay Jayaram stuns top seed to enter Dutch Open ... :)

Almere (The Netherlands): Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram was in his elements as he overcame Rajiv Ouseph of England to enter the men's singles final of the $50,000 Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix, here.
The 13th seeded Indian, who returned to the circuit after a seven-month injury layoff in August, defeated the top-seeded Ouseph 11-8 11-7 11-5 in a 26-minute semi-final at the Topsportcentrum Almere late Saturday.
Jayaram, 27, had a tough journey en route to the final as he got past third-seeded Indonesian Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in the quarter-final and Chun Hei Tam of Hong Kong in the pre-quarters.
