Clean India mantra sweeps Silchar pujas..........

As Kali puja organizers in Silchar explored their creative side, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan emerged as a favourite theme across pandals.

Like previous years, scores of Kali pujas were organized across Silchar, a Bengali-dominated town in the southern part of the state. With the Clean India campaign making headlines daily, Shyamaprasad Road Kali puja committee's pandal drew inspiration from the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The Lumding-Silchar broad gauge conversion project (under North East Frontier Railway) was another popular choice this year. Puja organizers in Park Road, Sadarghat, Meherpur and Chengkuri Road used the theme to good effect. In an interesting mix of fact and fiction, popular cartoon character Chota Bheem was seen helping workers complete the construction work at the Navadaya Sangha Sarbajanin Kali puja committee pandal at Chengkuri Road.                                                                                                                                                                    Sources in Assam pollution control board said the average decibel level in Silchar this year was less than that in previous years. The Central Road locality proved to be the noisiest as sound levels touched 90 decibel at 9 pm.
